Just a short note to let you know that BitRabbit is now an official iPhone and iPod Touch developer. This means several things.
Firstly, our RabbitFactory middleware is completely compatible with this new platform. If you develop your game with our simple and efficient APIs, you don't need to know ObjectiveC and MacOS X. The same C/C++ code you used will recompile directly for the iPhone. And you can keep the same assets. They are 100% reusable.
One of the consequences is that our award winning games should be soon available for your iPhone or iPod Touch. Stay tuned !
Here is another glimpse of the 3D prototype we're working on...
Following the porting of our middleware, RabbitFactory, to a new smartphone platform based on C/C++, we recently added OpenGL ES support. For platforms which support it natively with a graphic acceleration chip (some S60 devices like the flagship N95, all UIQ3 devices and this new platform), it is now possible to use all the power of Open GL ES 1.1 features.
In the same spirit of efficiency and quick learning curve, it is extremely easy to use. Just change calls of our internal 2D software renderer with OpenGL ES commands and that's it, it works ! We manage everything behind the scene.
Also on the desktop version, the support is out of the box. Nothing to do, no SDK to install, no compiling options to change or whatsoever. Just use the new binary and you can start coding with OpenGL ES straight.
We started working on a small prototype, which is an action/puzzle game, all in "low poly" style. Hopefully, if the concept is good, it'll become a nice game.
Here it is ! Tomorrow, Astraware will release Platypus, the famous PC casual game, which was later ported to PSP. Platypus is a high octane horizontal shoot'em up, which was entirely created with clay animation. This is the most squishy arcade game ever !
The versions for Windows Mobile, Palm OS (Symbian versions will be released later) were done by BitRabbit using our middleware, the RabbitFactory. Thanks to this tool, we were able to offer on the mobile versions all the features that have delighted so many players on the original PC version. All the mobile versions are a perfect replica. It has already received outstanding reviews from www.pda247.com and http://palmaddict.typepad.com
We are very happy, especially that at BitRabbit we are huge fans of this great game !
Yukiko and Atomanic were selected for the launch of a new mobile service in Korea, called WiBro, which is a WiMax service operated by KTF. Along with a few native mobile game providers, BitRabbit has been chosen to provide its award winning games (Windows Mobile versions) from the early start of this service !
A lot of games are currently worked on at BitRabbit ! Just to give you an idea, here is a very small preview of one of them, Surumi's Quest ! In the traditional japanese shoot'em up style, comes a game which would actually look very good on a console. Parallax scrollings, Mode 7 scrolling, 60 frames per second, particle engine, everything is there for an unforgettable mobile experience !
Also, we will be present in January at Las Vegas for the CES, so if you want to talk with us, just contact us to arrange a meeting.
Today is the release date of the RabbitFactory, the middleware developed by BitRabbit to develop high quality smartphone and PDA games.
